Loose tea and capsule coffee machine is a troublesome duo

Fluidum capsules with a liquid extract inside were created as a result of our desire to further use existing coffee machines. These capsules are specially designed for the preparation of delicious herbal and classic teas and allow the preparation of a quality drink by pressing a single button.

And why is it actually not appropriate to use capsules filled with loose tea or dried herbs for preparing tea in a capsule coffee machine?

One of the main reasons is the specific need for different water temperatures for different types of tea. While black tea requires water almost at boiling temperature, for green teas the ideal water temperature is lower to avoid burning the leaves and the subsequent significant bitterness of the drink. Capsule coffee machines are designed to prepare coffee that requires a specific water temperature (usually the water in these coffee machines is heated to around 86°C to 89°C) and pressure, which are not always ideal conditions for extracting the best flavors and aromas from the tea leaves.

Another reason is the limitation in the possibility of manipulating the steeping time, which is different for different types of tea. Capsule systems offer fast and consistent preparation, but do not allow you to adjust the tea steeping time according to personal preferences.

Brewing herbal tea in capsule coffee machines presents another set of challenges beyond the general water temperature and steeping time issues typical of black or green teas. Herbal teas often consist of various dried herbs, flowers, spices and other natural ingredients and require specific steeping conditions to optimally release their aromas and active ingredients. These conditions can vary greatly depending on the type and combination of herbs used.

The specifics of herbal teas, such as the need for longer steeping times and lower water temperatures for certain types of herbs to avoid damaging their delicate flavor profiles and therapeutic properties, are at odds with the basic characteristics of capsule coffee machines. These are designed for fast and high-pressure preparation of drinks, which is ideal for coffee, but not for herbal teas.

In contrast, Fluidum capsules with liquid herbal or tea extract, compatible with the Nespresso® system, represent an innovative solution that solves these problems and challenges. Fluidum respects the specific needs of the individual raw materials in the extraction phase, so then thanks to the precise dosage and concentration of the liquid extract, Fluidum capsules can offer a consistent quality and taste of the resulting drink, without having to worry about the right water temperature or leaching time.

This method of preparation provides convenience and speed without compromising the taste or quality of the finished drink.
