Správný obal je nutná součást kvalitního produktu

The right packaging is an essential part of a quality product

Packaging is becoming the least popular part of most products. We perceive it as waste that arises immediately after purchasing or consuming a product. Manufacturers are therefore striving to develop the most environmentally friendly packaging materials possible. At Fluidum, we have also spent a long time (and continue to spend) racking our brains over how to package our natural extracts so that they remain in an unchanged state of quality and do not unnecessarily burden the environment with their packaging.

VISION OF A DRINK IN COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING

From the very beginning, we wanted to create a product that would be environmentally friendly from A to Z. We envisioned compostable packaging that you could simply leave in the forest during a walk, knowing that it would completely decompose in nature without any problems. Our vision of a healthy and ecological drink was simply perfect!

ENCOUNTERING REALITY BROUGHT A MAJOR DECISION

In practice, however, it was not at all easy to find a material that would keep the extract in an unchanged quality. Compostable packaging, without an impermeable layer, would not protect the liquid. It would start to decompose before the product reached the customer. Even the single-material, recyclable packaging offered was not ideal. They would have required us to degrade our natural recipe with synthetic preservatives. We therefore had to make a fundamental decision. Either we keep our drink with an absolutely pure composition and package it in single-use packaging, or we choose recyclable material, but damage the recipe with artificial ingredients.

PRODUCT QUALITY IS CRUCIAL FOR US

We were motivated by the desire to bring people a unique drink, uncompromisingly beneficial for both body and mind. By changing the composition, Fluidum would lose not only its uniqueness but also its very essence. The naturalness and purity of our extracts are a priority for us, and that is why we chose the current primary packaging, a sachet, thanks to which Fluidum could remain free of synthetic additives or preservatives.

Our current sachets consist of two types of plastic, specifically PET and PE, and aluminum. Multi-layered foil with a protective aluminum layer allows the extract to be preserved in the highest quality and without added preservatives. Unfortunately, such sachets are single-use, which is why we chose a very low grammage for them.

We are definitely not ceasing our search for new suitable recycled and recyclable foil material. Development is moving forward rapidly, and that fills us with optimism.

We manually pack the sachets with extracts into paper boxes, which are fully recyclable. We deliberately do not use any partial varnishes or lamination for the paper's surface treatment, thus facilitating their recycling.

SUSTAINABILITY THAT IS NOT VISIBLE BEYOND THE PACKAGING

Packaging is just one piece of the puzzle. For us, ecology goes much further. We consider resource and energy consumption during production, further processing of already used raw materials and repeated use of packaging materials, how much waste we actually create and why, how long and far (not only) raw materials travel to us... and what real impact all these issues have on the environment.

If we want to truly objectively assess the sustainability of specific products, it is necessary, in addition to packaging, to also examine their overall production and logistical process. Nature and its resources are sacred to us, and we want to protect them. We perceive the environmental impact of our extracts comprehensively. We believe that this is the only way it truly makes sense.
